Acid Stain
Preperation
The goal of acid stain preparation is to get the surface as bare and spotless as possible. This entails scrubbing the concrete with various brushes, washing with water, and using a broom for dust and debris. If there is plaster from drywall or other stuck-on elements, they will be rubbed off with a wire brush and/or sand paper.
The Process
Concrete Acid Stain is a liquid solution made of water, acid, and metallic salts that chemically react with the lime and minerals in cured cement to permanently color it.
The liquid acid is sprayed on the surface and left to react for four to six hours. Then it is neutralized with a base liquid such as diluted ammonia.
Best applied to indoor or outdoor surfaces: Garage or shop, patio or apron, sidewalk, countertops or even exposed concrete walls.
Sealing
The surface is sealed using an acrylic based top coat that is rolled on evenly to provide aesthetic enhancement, shine, and medium level protection. It is recommenced to be recoated every few years depending on traffic.
Floor Epoxy
Preperation
The preparation is the most integral part of epoxy flooring. The first step is to remove any carpet glue or other previous flooring chemicals, using stripping agents and scrapers. Once the surface is free of anything that will effect the grinder, we move onto that. An industrial diamond bit floor grinder is used to sand down the entire surface of the concrete. This opens up the pores, and gives texture for the epoxy to hold onto. Saw cuts and cracks are then cleared out by grinding and scraping, then a crack and joint-filling epoxy is mixed and used to fill these areas. In some cases, depending on the moisture content of the concrete slab, a liquid vapor barrier is laid down to prevent bubbling and peeling. Every client vision, and concrete slab is different so the preparation is subject to change.
The Process
Once the concrete is properly prepared, a high-quality epoxy base coat is applied to create a strong bonding layer. Decorative vinyl flakes are then broadcast across the wet epoxy to achieve the desired color, texture, and appearance. The flakes can be customized to suit a variety of styles, allowing you to create a floor that is both functional and visually appealing. After the coating has cured, any excess flakes are scraped and removed to create an even, consistent finish.
Top Coat
The final step involves applying a durable, protective clear topcoat that seals the entire system. This topcoat provides an additional layer of protection against everyday wear and tear, moisture, stains, chemicals, and surface abrasions. It also creates a seamless, easy-to-clean surface that helps keep your floors looking great for years to come.
Benefits
Acid Stain
Epoxy
Concrete acid staining is an affordable way to enhance the natural beauty of existing concrete without covering it up. Unlike traditional coatings, acid stain reacts with the minerals in the concrete to create unique, natural-looking color variations that highlight the concrete's original character and texture. Each floor has its own one-of-a-kind appearance, making it a great option for those looking for a more natural, rustic finish. It's an excellent way to add character and color while keeping the beauty of the concrete itself.
Epoxy flake flooring creates a tough, long-lasting surface designed to withstand heavy traffic, vehicle use, dropped tools, and everyday wear and tear. Its protective coating helps prevent moisture penetration, stains, chemicals, and damage to the underlying concrete.
The sealed surface is also easy to clean and maintain, while the decorative flakes provide added texture for improved traction, depending on the finish selected. With a wide range of colors and finishes available, epoxy flake flooring delivers the perfect combination of strength, protection, durability, and style for garages, basements, workshops, and commercial spaces.
